Gents,

Visiting Controller status allows you to utilize your skills in a completely different airspace envrionment. This can add a lot of knowledge and entertainment to your experience on-line. Most ARTCC's welcome competent visiting controllers with open arms, here at ZJX we are very fortunate to have some very good controllers visiting us that have added a lot to our overall on-line experience.

What I would like to caution you on, is the very few that feel the need to have visiting rights at a multitude of ARTCC's. This benefits no one. First, policy dictates that the majority of your on-line time must be completed within your home ARTCC. By having mulitiple Visiting rights, you will spread yourself too thin and then no ARTCC is benefiting from your controlling. You yourself are missing out on perfecting your skills in a particular airspace by forcing yourself to learn a multitude of areas and procedures.

Everyone is encouraged to visit another airspace, control there and meet new controllers. But requesting VC status at more than one additional ARTCC is frowned upon.

Cool

Hi Greg,

I sent a request in around two weeks ago for Visiting Controller status in ZJX ARTCC; is there any progress with my application or do you need some more information?

Best wishes,
Dominic

I'll find out if Greg has gotten your application. You will also need to send a recommendation from your ARTCC. You you send that to me I can look into your application as well.
