Changes Coming
There has been a strong effort lately to help bring ZJX up to date with recent changes to our airspace, and to keep us more in line with the practices of our real world counterpart. Our own Daniel Hawton has been taken the lead on this project and spent more hours than I care to count to make it happen. I want to personally thank him for the hard work he has done for our great ARTCC. Thank you sir.
The majority of the changes will be fairly simple and straightforward to learn. With a few exceptions, it mainly constitutes name changes for some positions to accurately reflect the real world of ATC. I am well aware that all of these changes will take some time to get used to by all of us, espcially myself. But I think once done, we will all be very appreciative of Daniels hard work.
Over the next few weeks I will be updating the SOP's on our site as well as coordinating with our neighbors to implement these new changes. As soon as the updated Sector file is ready for downloading, I will also make a forum post so that all of you will be able to download and start becoming famaliar with the new changes. Instructors and Mentors are highly encouraged to make themselves available to assist each other and the memebership with learning these new procedures.
The Changes
Elimination of DAB_APP.
This would be gobbled up by MCO_APP and serve a two-fold purpose. First it would better reflect the real world usage of the airspace. Secondly, operations at DAB would have a better chance of finding an on-line controller possilbly increasing the operations there.
Re-designed and named CTR sectors
Again, more inline with real world ops. Also bring us inline with the overall VATSIM usage of numbered positions instead of E, EL, etc....
