Recording an ATIS
ATIS Voice Format
Employ the following format and procedures when recording an ATIS:

(Airport Name) Information (ATIS CODE)

Time (ZULU Time)

Wind
-
Visibility (Visibility and pertinent obscuration)
-
Sky condition
-
Temperature
-
Dew point
-
Altimeter
-
Approaches in Use (Visual, ILS)
-
Arrival Runways in use
-
Departure Runways (If different then arrival runways)
-
Parallel / Intersecting / LAHSO Advisories
-
NOTAM's (Any pertinent notices to airmen, bird activity, personnel working on airport, runway and taxiway closures, etc)
-
All departures contact (appropriate controller and frequency) prior to taxi
-
All aircraft readback runway assignments and hold short instructions
-
Advise controller on initial contact you have information (ATIS Code)
ATIS Voice Responsibilities

ATIS voice messages are the responsibility of the controller providing Tower related services to a field (NOT GND/DEL), this may be TWR, APP or CTR
-
Only one Voice ATIS per field at any one time.

Voice ATIS messages must be updated as conditions on the field change.

ATIS messages must use the ATIS frequency associated with that field.
