Welcome
Welcome to the Jacksonville ARTCC (ZJX), we hope that you come to love controlling and ZJX as much as we do. Below you will find some useful information to help you get started with virtual controlling on the VATSIM network. Also keep in mind that all of our staff and members are here to help, feel free to contact any of us by email and we will be more than happy to assist you. We want you to feel welcomed and become a part of our extended family here.

The ZJX files may be found in the Controllers section of our website under downloads.
Setting up VRC
1. Download and install VRC Radar Client.
2. Open VRC
3. Under "File" select "open sector" and select the ZJX 4.6.6 Sector File that you downloaded.
4. Go to Settings/General/Miscellaneous. Select the ZJX Alias and Postion files in the boxes shown.
5. Under "Hotkeys" make the following selections.
Aircraft Select Key..... ` (Asel)
Controller Select Key..\ (slash)
PTT Key.......................(Right Ctrl)
6. Under "Airspace" select KMCO for DEP and ARR airport, set visibility to 40nm or less to observe.
7. Go to View/Diagrams/SIDS. select KMCO class B, Ground
8. Connect to the network.
Be sure to enter your real name, VATSIM ID and Password, Rank, and select Observer
Log on as ZJX_XX_OBS....with XX being your initials
9. Once on type .vis KMCO in the botton panel to center your view on KMCO.
10. To monitor radio transmissions between active controllers and pilots you must set up a comms link.
Open the comms panel.
Enter the position name. MCO_TWR
Enter the freq. 118.450
Enter rw.liveatc.net
Enter name exactly as above. MCO-TWR
To monitor select RX and HDST/Spkrs
Do not transmit on a monitored frequency at any time.
