Taxing and Traffic Flow

Commercial Aircraft:

Departures/Arrivals East Side:

  • Taxiways Foxtrot and Golf.
  • Taxiways Juliet and Golf.

Departures/Arrivals West Side:

  • Taxiways Foxtrot and Charlie.
  • Taxiways Juliet and Charlie.

General Aviation Aircraft:

Departures/Arrivals East Side:

  • Taxiways Echo and Alpha.

Departures/Arrivals West Side:

  • Taxiway Alpha.

Intersection Departures

  • Consider Local Control's workload prior to approving intersection departures.
  • Notify Local Control when aircraft are taxied to an intersection for takeoff.

Airline Gates

Deny civil aircraft request to park at an airline gate, all civil aircraft are instructed to taxi to the west ramp for parking.

Helicopter Operations

Check with Local Control when a Helicopter request takeoff from the helipad area.  If approved, advise Helicopter traffic to contact Tower on appropriate frequency.

All Helicopter Traffic taxing to an active runway will be taxied via General Aviation procedures.

Designated Run-Up Areas

  • Run-up Area 1 is located on the old Alert Pad, at the southwest corner of the airport.  The area is limited to aircraft with a wingspan of less than 108 feet (generally aircraft smaller that the B737-600), and is available Mon. - Fri. from 0800 to 1730 Local.
  • Run-up Area 2 is located on Taxiway Zulu.  This area is available to propeller and corporate jet aircraft.  Position aircraft north or south of Taxiway Yankee.
  • Run-up Area 3 is located on Taxiway Bravo and Charlie south of Bravo 9.  It is available to all aircraft.  Instruct the pilot to position the aircraft south of Bravo 9, with the tail facing south.
  • Run-up Area 4 is located on Taxiways Golf and Hotel, between Hotel 8 and Hotel 9.  This area is available to all aircraft.

Gate Hold Procedures

Gate Hold is a procedure designed to hold aircraft at the gate or other ground location whenever departure delays exceed or are anticipted to exceed 15 minutes.  The Tower CIC has the responsibility to initate Gate Hold Procedures.  When Gate Hold Procedures are initiated, perform the following:

  • On initial contact, and if delays are expected, issue an engine start time and/or delay information.
  • Advise the pilot to monitor your frequency.
